Stop your whining! This thing is sexy!
As I read through articles on Digg about the new iPhone 3GS and all the people complaining about how they are in a “contract” and have to spend $600 instead of $299, it hit me! This sounds like whining I hear about in the Gamestop I work at from customers and from people on the internet about the PS3’s price point. What is the problem with you people? You are crazy and after this break I am going to explain why.
I know I am sort of the new guy around this upcoming gaming website, but I feel like everyone should be able to state their own opinion about things that the gaming audience can’t wrap head around. The Playstation 3 is Sony’s third installment in the Playstation franchise and is a great system to own. People have been complaining about the price tag since day 1 of the systems birth. Don’t get me wrong, I was in the big bunch of people at work who hated the $600 and $500 price point for the first few systems. But as time went on I took a long hard look at what makes a PS3 well a PS3. Lets look in the belly of a PS3[Via About]:

Now I am not going to explain every little bit about every specification to try to keep the post at a decent size. But as you see the Cell Processor seems to be a big part of what has made the PS3 it is today. The Cell Processor technology is on of the fastest things to come out for a gaming entertainment system. Without this Sony wouldn’t be able to bring out all the beauty the PS3 has produced (EX: MGS4, Killzone2) and more to come (EX: Heavy Rain, FFXIII). You need to look at the fact that this is just not a gaming system, it is like a fast computer. It has everything you need in its 11lb sexy styling. You are able to put Linux on it and upgrade the hard drive at a very very low cost. Sony gave you the ability to almost do what you want with the system. Also, people complaining about how all they see are games in 720p please stop complaining. Sony likes to run them in 720p for the fact of having a steady framerate and to still make it look nice. Look at how smooth Motorstorm and Killzone 2 run and look and then come back to me. The PS3 has the ability to be so many things that too many people look over and need to praise. That is all I am going to say in this Stop Your Whining PS3 Edition. I am not biased I own a Xbox 360 and gaming PC also, I am just stating the facts. Gage, out.
