Fairytale Fights “Salami Violence”, Screens/Trailer & E3 Dev Demo Audio

FAIRYALE FIGHTS LOGO CONCEPT

What is Fairytale Fights, you ask? Think Castle Crashers, or Fat Princess, ON SPEED! and set in the cute and lovable environment of the fairytales you grew up with.
I had the pleasure of a behind close door demo of Fairytale Fights and as today is the day the embargo lifts I am here to bring you impressions of what I saw, the newly released teaser trailer, a collection of screenshots; as a bonus I am also including the full audio from the E3 Demo as well. I would like to thank Playlogic for all the assets and the demo; as well as this finest “Red Bull” at E3!

First up I give you the teaser trailer:

As you can see that trailer defiantly lives up to its “teaser” part and does not show much of the actual game. You can see that Little Red Riding Hood is one of the playable characters but it is not the Little Red Riding Hood most of us know from the fairytale; she appears to be a little meaner! Out of all the games I saw at E3 this year Fairytale Fights, BY FAR!, had the most blood and gore! It is unfortunate that the above trailer and the below screen shots do not show this feature but I’m sure it will be featured in the upcoming months.
As we were watching, and you can hear in the attached audio file, the developers play through and discuss the demo they stressed a couple main elements of Fairytale Fights:

Online / Offline Co-Op
* Drop in Drop out feature lets players join friends both online and offline in PvP battle arenas and Story Mode.

This feature was demonstrated many times and work flawlessly. Up to 1-2 online players and 1-4 offline players, can join your game at any time and either help you out or hurt you! While it is the case that what you collect while playing is yours and what your friend collects is theirs; friendly fire is ALWAYS on! So be careful while in your friends game as tomorrow they may be in yours!

Volumetric Liquid System
* Another unique feature developed by Playlogic Game Factory includes the volumetric liquid system, allowing blood and other liquids to seamlessly blend together. For example; Blood from characters and NPC’s / Enemies will spray across the environment and scenery and increase in size as attacks grow more frenzied. As our liquid and blood system was built upon the principles of atoms that attract each other, creating organic shapes that interact with objects and characters in the surrounding environments is easy. Players can also slide through the pools of blood, creating a blood stained platform in seconds! Other liquids such as water will behave like water and acid like acid, causing characters to melt. When players have a bottle of acid for example they can use these to help melt enemies and opponents.

As I stated earlier Fairytale Fights had the most blood on the screen at one time! The blood was very persistent and using the above mention technology made the ground very slippery at times. You were able to see you character, and the NPCs, start to slip, slide and lose control as they tried to walk through the more blood soaked parts of the terrain. The use of the acid is especially nice as it leaves no blood; just the cold, dead bones of your enemies.
Which leads nicely into the best feature of Fairytale Fights…

Salami Violence
* Over the past few years, Playlogic Game Factory has been developing their own Dynamic Slicing Technology, named Salami Violence. For the first time ever! Players will have full control over how and when to slice and dice their enemies or opponents as fully textured, 3D animated objects cover the ground in pieces When using a special mode in the game called Glory Attack (and if using uses a slice weapon), players will be given a window of opportunity to slice up their enemies multiple times. All this can be seen in a close-up PnP window.

As you will hear in the Dev Demo you play this game really only using the Left Analog stick to move and the Right Analog stick to DICE and CHOP you enemies in to manageable pieces. With “Salami Violence” every movement of the Right Analog stick corresponds to a slice, chop or smash action made by you character. Depending on the weapon you have at the moment, and utilizing you “Glory Power”, you could make as many unique cuts as you have time to move the stick; and each cut is truly unique!
The best part of “Salami Violence”? When finishing an enemy a Picture-in-Picture window pops on the screen showing you an enlarged video of what is actually happening with your character! This is not an animation in the PIP window but an actual enlargement of the screen around you character. This was demonstrated numerous times and each time it was a different window with different actions taking place!

Now I know what you thinking! This is going to be awesome to download and have on my Xbox or PS3 hard drive. You would be wrong in thinking this! Fairytale Fights is going to be a full retail, $60, game when it is released this fall and the developers promise it is going to be well worth it!
But I don’t want to divulge all the secrets here. Download and/or Subscribe to The Evolved Gaming Podcast iTunes feed for the full audio from the this behind close doors demo! Then come this fall, when your looking for blood in your game, slip in the Fairytale Fights disc and cut some limbs off!
