New Raven Squad (FPS/RTS) Screenshots!
One of the best times I had at PAX08 was sitting with the Southpeak guys and discussing Raven Squad. I think I ended up going back two or three times and if I wasn’t at the Tritton booth I was at the Southpeak booth playing the Raven Squad Demo.
Today Southpeak and Evolved Games (not to be confused with us) released some more screenshots for the planned Fall 09 release of Raven Squad.
In Raven Squad you have the abaility to play as your normal FPS; switching between members of your team to complete objectives. Or you have the option at any time and on the fly to switch to an “eye in the sky” view, turning you into the Field Commander and in charge of all team members.
In the PAX demo you were tacked to take out some mercs that were occupying a lumber yard. As was demonstrated by the Southpeak guys, and later accomplished by myself, it was best to start off in the RTS mode. This giving you full view of the battlefield you could plan you attack and send one team to a flank while the main team hit the lumber yard head on. Once in place switching to FPS on any teammate was easily accomplished giving you the satisfaction of making the kill yourself.
I will be checking out Southpeak’s lineup at E3 and will be sure to spend some time with Raven Squad. My first question for Southpeak/Evolved Game guys will be: Where is the PS3 version? Do you have questions you’d like answered? Leave them in the comments below and I will get them answered!
