Ghostbusters: The video game
When I first heard of the Ghostbusters movie(s) becoming a game, I flipped. Not because I didn’t think it would succeed but because I was kind of excited. Now everyday I hear something new about the game, it really sounds good. The game has garnished a lot of positive feedback, and now more good news comes to PS3 and yes PS2 owners. It appears that Sony can play the game of buying up timed exclusives as well, and have.
Now I know what you’re thinking why buy up the timed exclusive rights for this title, and not something bigger? Well The game is now being published by Sony Computer Entertainment after, making a deal with Atari according to Game Zine. The coincidence is that The original Ghostbusters film is set to release on Blu-Ray next month, which is also a Sony Pictures Production. Now the game is set to release along side the Blu-Ray release of the movie for the PS3 and PS2 on June 19, 2009.
Atari will presumably publish the game on a later date for all other consoles, as stated by an Atari spokesperson: “I can confirm that Sony will publish Ghostbusters on PS3 and PS2 on June 19th, and that the Xbox 360, Wii and DS versions will be coming from Atari later in the year.” To mention the PSP is apparently getting a version as well, but will also be released at a later date.
Well maybe not the best game to try this trick on, and buying up the timed exclusive rights too, but on the other hand at least there is logical reason behind it instead of doing it out of greed. Lets just hope it is worth it. So look for the game and the Blu-Ray release next month.
