Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising set to release in May of 2009 could be a huge FPS.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is out to set the bar in realistic relatedness for real life war. The game will take us as close to war as normal civilians playing video games would really want to be. Playing a Marine in combat on screen while using stealth and precision to shoot an enemy with a sniper rifle at 2,000 yards away seems like a day in the FPS genre for any gamer. OF:DR though is said to offer a realistic feeling in the game like no other has from the bullet blazing battles to the out of focus and camera shaken cut-scenes. Players will experience intense fast paced combat in a modern conflict from some unique player perspectives.

OF:DR features the freedom to handle military situations on your command in unscripted missions throughout the game. What could be a nice touch, is that when the single player campaign is completed, the mission editor will enable the player to create single and multi player missions. As a player you control tanks in armored ground assaults and pilot helicopters in air strikes. While being able to take control of a wide variety of vehicles, you will also be hoofin it on foot as well as you try and infiltrate enemy lines, with modern weaponry at your disposal, the likes of grenades, knives and assault rifles to machine guns, rocket launchers and air strike designators.

Operation Flashpoint from the sounds of it and from the screen shots looks great and is shaping up to be another solid FPS. FPS’s have been in abundance as of late, and each one in it’s own different, are all relatively the same some could argue. Should we expect more from an FPS? Maybe. Will Operation Flashpoint deliver on this stance? Well we shall know soon enough since Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising has a release date of May 26, 2009.
