Call of Duty: World at War, kill streak rewards revealed
“Following the release of the complete list of Call of Duty: World at War perks and confirmation that the online multiplayer beta will be exclusive to Xbox 360 and PC, we have one more COD5 announcement for you – details of the new “kill streak” commands.
For those of you unfamiliar with this function (which cropped up in COD4: Modern Warfare) kill streaks are awarded when you reach a specific number of kills without dying, and take the form of a special ability which you can utilize against your opponent. In Call of Duty: World at War, Treyarch will be offering something similar giving players special commands for killing multiple enemies.
Here is the complete list:
Recon Plane (3 Kills):
Kill three enemies without dying and you are given the ability to call in a recon plane to mark enemies temporarily on your radar map. The only enemies that won’t appear are ones using the Reconnaissance perk.
Artillery Strike (5 Kills):
Kill five enemies without dying and you are given the ability to call in an artillery strike. This is very similar to the Airstrike command in COD4, however, instead of a line of bombs going off, the area in which you select for the drop is completely obliterated in a long series of cannon fire.
Unleash the Dogs (7 Kills):
Kill seven enemies without dying and you enable the ability to call in attack dogs, which will sniff out any enemies on the map. Unlike COD4, attack dogs will find you regardless of where you hide, making it exceedingly difficult to avoid them. Furthermore, killing the attack dogs will only save you temporarily as the hounds will respawn if killed until their time/kill limit has expired.”
Fable II WILL have co-op on release according to Molyneux
“Our french gaming site (Game-Focus.com), present at the Festival du Jeu Vidéo (Video Game Festival) in Paris has told us that the Fable II online co-op mode, expected to be delayed after the game’s launch, will be available on launch date despite the early reports from last week.
During a keynote at the event, Lionhead guru Peter Molyneux has denied everything and confirmed (for a second time) that the game will have it’s groundbreaking mode available on Day 1. Who should we believe? Lionhead or Microsoft? Confusion arises…
The game has already been gold and expected to ship on October 21 in North America and October 24 in Europe.”
XBL Arcade this week – War World
“Control a heavily-armed assault mech and fight for supremacy against powerful opponents on the faraway planet called War World. This fast-paced third-person shooter includes three single-player game modes with a 100-level arcade style game and four multiplayer game modes, and is one big beautiful package of entertainment.
- Super powerful and unique mechs: Choose from 16 different mechanoids, each having special abilities and advantages including Extreme Speed, High Damage Lasers, Powerful Miniguns, Missiles, Stealth Invisibility, Mortars, Mine-launchers, Tough Armor, Shields and more.
- Single player mode: Single player Arcade mode boasts a 100-level campaign with 5 levels of difficulty. Single player Death Match and Single player Team Death Match puts you up against the best mech fighters in War World.
- Fast-paced multiplayer: Play with other Xbox® gamers online or direct link. War World multiplayer offers four unique game-modes, including Capture the Flag, Bomb Assault, Death Match and Team Death Match.
- Next-gen visual effects: Full HDR rendering, normal mapped diffuse and specular lighting, light blooms, atmospheric, explosion and weapon effects all combine to provide a spectacular game experience.”
Gears of War 2, pre-order for goodies!
“Three retailers have revealed their bonus offers if you pre-order a copy of Gears of War 2 with them. First, we have Blockbuster, which is offering a copy of the first issue of the Gears of War Comic by DC/Wildstorm, featuring an exclusive cover. After the ad break you can find a picture of it.
If you pre-order Gears of War 2 at GameStop, you’ll get an exclusive Gears of War 2 Xbox 360 theme created specifically for the New Xbox Experience.
Last, but not least, Best Buy is offering a bad ass remote control version of the Centaur tank for free when you pre-order the Limited Edition of Gears of War 2. Kotaku obtained pictures of the in-game Centaur tank:

Xbox Slim is REAL (according to Indian Xbox branch)

?
So, rumours (I’d like to re-iterate, RUMOURS) are floating around that the Xbox 360 is doing a SONY and is making a slimmer version of it’s hit unit.
Split-Screen wrote: “MS execs here confirmed that the Xbox 360 Slim exists and you can expect an official announcement on the console in December. When the redesign will be officially available (in 2009) to consumers is uncertain but this certainly looks to be a worthy purchase to start the New Year, especially with the upcoming October releases of Fallout 3, Fable 2 and Gears of War 2 in India.”
So, what’s 360 Evolved readers take on this?
There has been another development this morning, Microsoft P[R department replied to the above article: “I haven’t heard anything about this, but if you wait for some months then who knows? Things keep evolving in this business and for now just imagine what it’d look like.” Anyway, believe what you like about this, one thing for sure though, this is one story to keep following closely.
XBOX LIVE SCHEDULED MAINTANENCE
Logged into Live this morning and found an error? Don’t worry, Xbox, My Xbox and the Xbox.com forums are down for maintanence today for 24 hours starting at 8am.
The service is down to PREPARE for the upcoming Fall update. You will not have NXE (New Xbox Experience) on the switch back to LIVE.
